Criminal Cases
Case 1
In a confiscation case I was able to demonstrate that the Prosecution’s assumptions regarding the Defendant’s income were flawed and income was from legitimate activity, which included turnover from employment, transfers of funds for house purchase and sale of sundry personal effects.
Case 2
In a conspiracy case I was able to demonstrate that funds the Prosecution alleged were from criminal activity were in fact the proceeds of a legitimate life insurance policy.
Case 3
In a complex case brought under the Financial Services and Markets Act area I set out for the court why the Defendant didn’t need to be registered under the Act and gave testimony under oath at the trial. The Defendant was acquitted on this count.
Case 4
In a confiscation case I identified a number of misconceptions, inaccuracies and errors of principle in the Prosecution’s assessment of the criminal benefit of in excess of £700,000 which reduced the assessment to £186,000.
Civil Cases
Case 1
In a contractual dispute between limited companies by working jointly with another expert I was able to reach a consensus of a loss range of £215,000 to £242,000 from disputed extremes of £130,000 and £539,000.
Case 2
In a personal injury case working jointly with another expert I was able to reach a figure for the loss of earnings which formed the basis of a settlement.
Case 3
In a personal injury case I assessed the loss of profits of a self employed builder badly injured in a motorcycle accident and engaged in discussions with counsel and a settlement was reached.
Family Cases
Case 1
In a case of divorce as a single joint expert I reported on the value of the husband’s shareholdings in three companies and have since been proposed by one of the solicitors involved as a single joint expert on a separate case.
Case 2
I successfully appealed the refusal of Continuing Healthcare for a care resident resulting in the repayment of fees charged.
Case 3
I acted as a single mother’s appointed Client Representative in first tier tribunal hearings and successfully appealed the award having identified diverted income which should have been taken into account in the maintenance calculations.
